The ministry grows

We bring you greetings from YWAM Liberia. We bless God so much for your prayers and financial support. We appreciate all your assistance to keep the work of God moving.

We started a year ago with a team of two, now we are praising God for the increase in number, being six persons on staff from three different nations: Jamil and his wife Yeayea, Johnson Kamanda and Dickson Jurry (all Liberians), Therese from Senegal and Christian from Germany. To God be the glory!

DTS 2011 in progress.As mentioned in our last newsletter we had a team here from Pittsburg, USA, visiting Liberia. We are very thankful for their visit. They made a financial contribution to our rent and also to the starting of our current Discipleship Training School (DTS).

We remain grateful to God for our present DTS. The students are excited about the school. There are so many testimonies coming from the students about how the DTS is imparting their lives. One of the students said he will recommend this school to his pastor and encourage other relatives to do it as well. We have started seeing changes in their lives.

In addition to our weekly community outreach in Chocolate City we have a team that visits a school once a week to do preaching and counseling. We have seen many young boys and girls giving their life to Christ. For the next school year we have two more invitations from other schools.

Tooth brush and paste distributionAt the "Educational Promoters" Elementary school in Chocolate City we were able to distribute toothbrushes and toothpaste, donated by Mark and Nick from YWAMJacksonville, to about 200 children. Before giving the items out, Yeayea Kromah, one of our staff, shared a word about the importance of personal hygiene, speaking on how God wants us to have healthy teeth and how we can avoid getting tooth ache. It was a great time with the children, and many of them praised God and expressed gratitude to the donors.

From Feb 6-12, 2011, Jamil met with about a dozen other YWAM leaders for the annual West Africa Leadership Conference. Six nations were represented this year in Pita, Guinea, to discuss relevant issues, encourageone another and pray together. The focus of the meet-ing was to enhance our leadership and understand emerging changes within the leadership of YWAM.

In August we are planning to be a part of the 2011 YWAM staff conference in Senegal. It is always a time of great blessings when we have the chance to meet other YWAMers, to pray together, to share experiences and to build friendships.

YWAM Leaders in Pita, GuineaChristian is planning to spend some time in Germany from June to August. He hopes to come back with a car for YWAM Liberia, since transportation has been a challenge for us. We are praying for somebody in Europe to donate a car suitable for African roads and traffic.

Our new Land

A few years ago YWAM was able to purchase 1.5 acres of land outside of Monrovia (Marshall Rd). Eventually we want to establish a big training center there for DTSs and other schools.

This year we are trying to clear the land, plant some trees and other crops and lay the foundation for the first two buildings (dorm, kitchen and lecture/dining hall), which we hope to complete in 2012. Our 2013 DTS will hopefully be on this new base!

We know this is a big project, since the total cost of just the first phase of our new base might be around US$ 50,000, but we trust God and believe that having our own base will bring growth and stability to YWAM Liberia. At the bottom of this letter you can find a plan for our new base.

Community Bible Study

While in training two of our students have started a community bible study cell group. They meet every Friday afternoon for one hour of digging in God's word, to-gether with a good number of guys who were invited during community outreach and special programs like showing the Jesus Film.
